The Open Resource (formerly the Open Book)

Is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) focused on learning and skill enhancement for anyone seeking lifelong opportunities! Our mission is to create an open, inclusive pathway for personal growth to fully participate and contribute in today’s world.
To achieve these objectives, we will continue to provide:
  • One-on-one tutoring for all age ranges of individuals
  • In-person and virtual sessions on various topics such as quilling, estate planning, Microsoft Excel, and Japanese
  • Meeting space for community groups
  • A location for the collection and distribution of gently used low/no cost books
  • Technical advice and support on commonly used computer hardware, software, and mobile devices
In the future, we plan to add:
  • Expanded digital learning/inclusion activities to support the Rush County Broadband Task Force by:
    • Providing a Webinar Wednesday series of virtual classes on various topics related to using the Internet
    • Acting as a refurbishing and distribution location for donated Broadband Task Force computer hardware
    • ​Coordinating a source for increased broadband coverage in Rush County
  • Additional volunteers to conduct classes, mentor students, establish youth programming coding groups, refurbish donated computers, and tutor individuals on various topics - plus other classes and activities yet to be determined
  • Value to the community and become a highly valued asset
